Fun Fact: The plant gets its common name “Gold Dust” due to the unique yellow or white speckles on its green leaves, resembling a sprinkle of gold dust. It is highly decorative but it rarely flowers. 

Uses by people: It is mainly used as an ornamental houseplant due to its attractive foliage and ability to thrive indoors with minimal care. It is known for purifying indoor air by removing toxins like formaldehyde

Uses by animals: In the wild, its dense foliage offers small insects and possibly even small reptiles shelter, creating a microhabitat on the forest floor.

Roles in their ecosystem: As part of the understory vegetation in its native tropical environment, it contributes to biodiversity and soil stabilization. Its leaves add organic matter to the soil as they decompose, enriching the forest floor and supporting nutrient cycling within the ecosystem.
